CAB (Controlled Atmosphere Brazing)
CAB - general information
Technology for soldering of aluminium CAB exchangers
Aluminium soldering in the furnaces with regulated atmosphere (CAB) with the use of non-corrosive flux is at present a basic technology in the production of aluminium heat exchangers in the car industry. SECO/WARWICK is one of the first companies in the world that started the production of devices for this technology. The first application was implemented in 1983. At present SECO/WARWICK is the leader in the development of this advanced technology. Based on nearly 100 years of experience in the design of furnaces, SECO/WARWICK has implemented a series of construction and technological solutions that are fundamental for the CAB process:
- improved construction of muffles
- technology of convection heating
- strategy of running the process in semi-continuous furnaces
- systems of continuous regulation and atmosphere saving
- development of the PC/PLC control systems
- energy-saving solutions in the range of oil-removing furnaces and driers
- advanced systems of covering the exchangers with flux
With growing experience, SECO/WARWICK constructed and implemented several types of furnaces for this technology. At present we have optimal solutions for all kind of exchangers encountered in industrial practice, for production in large, medium, or small series. The types of devices in production include the chamber furnace with vacuum rinsing and the semi-continuous "Active Only" system for small-series production and prototyping, and the convection, convection-and-radiation and radiation continuous furnaces.
The application of the CAB technology in the HVAC/R - (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning – Refrigeration) industry is considered as the future one. The new trends nowadays which limit the consumption of the electric energy will require the change of the construction and the application of new materials. It is also connected with the limitation and minimalization of the CO2 emission by the power engineering plants.
Therefore, it is a very attractive direction for the SECO/WARWICK Company, which wants to use its potential and technological capacities and the expansion possibility on this market.
SECO/WARWICK also ensures complete and competent support, necessary for the start-up of a new system.
Radiation furnaces
An excellent solution for long production-series of exchangers with similar construction and dimensions. The processes of heating and soldering take place in a radiation-heated chamber, without convection ventilators.
Convection-and-radiation furnaces
Owing to the use of convection in the heating chamber the entire soldering process becomes shorter. Intended for soldering exchangers of different dimensions and masses in long production-series.
Convection furnaces
Ideal for soldering a wide range of exchangers in the shortest possible production-cycle.
Convective transfer of heat and short heating-cycles enable the mixing of different charges in one cycle. Especially useful in the car industry in particular for soldering large exchanges for cars and special vehicles.
Active Only convection furnaces
The Active Only furnaces are especially designed for soldering the medium and short lots of exchangers. Owing to the unique solutions and the full controlling automatics of the process and operation of the furnace, it is possible to solder charges with diametrically different dimensions in consecutive cycles of the process. The most flexible solution, especially recommended for customers manufacturing for the so-called “after market”.
Charge furnaces with vacuum rinsing
Compact chamber-furnaces with vacuum rinsing that enable soldering of special exchangers in a small-series production and for R&D purposes.
